Don Johnson - CEO & Co-Founder
Greetings from Don Johnson and welcome to Kids N’ Tennis, Inc.
I am the CEO and Co-Founder of Kids N’ Tennis, Inc.
I’m a Certified Tennis Teaching Professional, with the United States Professional Tennis Registry (PTR). I have been certified for 25 years and have been teaching tennis for over 35 years.
During this time, I have worked primarily with junior players of all ages and levels in the Portland and Vancouver metro area.
In 1987, I co-founded Kids N’ Tennis, Inc. with Andre St. James, as a community tennis organization whose primary focus was on kids and tennis. Over the years we have established partnerships with a variety of tennis organizations: USTA (United States Tennis Association), the PTR, Portland Parks & Recreation, local schools, businesses and others to promote the sport of tennis, and provide information on health, and nutrition.
This kid’s tennis program has rallied tennis enthusiasts of all ages to assist in promoting tennis, helping mentor kids and assist them in achieving their educational and athletic goals,
while providing a safe and positive environment for them to build confidence & self-esteem.
I relocated to Houston, Texas in 2012 and now live in Missouri City, Texas which is about 20 miles from Houston and am currently working with the Houston Youth Tennis program and Houston Parks and Recreation.
I also have created a sister program, Kids N’ Tennis – TEXAS that works closely with our program in Portland, Oregon.

"USPTR selects Coach Johnson as "USPTR 2021 Oregon Pro of the Year."
Michael Navarro - President
As a young teacher Coach Mike spent his first Kids ‘N Tennis Summer Camp in 2004.
However, this was not his first time working with KNT. In a unique arrangement with Portland Parks & Recreation, Kids N’ Tennis, Inc. assumed management of the St. Johns Racquet Center. One of its first community clients was Open Meadow Learning Center. Coach Mike, an avid tennis player, made arrangements with KNT, where students from Open Meadow could learn tennis while receiving PE credit. Later on with his summers free he combined his love of tennis, with his passion of working the kids into commitment that led to him working full-time with Kids N’ Tennis, Inc.
Seventeen years later Coach Mike is still going strong, playing in USTA Adult Tennis leagues and becoming a certified tennis teaching professional with the United States Professional Tennis Registry (PTR). Coach Mike’s primary responsibility for Kids N’ Tennis, is with its Junior Development Program. You’ll usually see him at practice on weekends, working with the younger players focusing on footwork, fundamentals, and fun!
